The Orthopinion Project
Purpose
As a 4th year medical student, I had the tremendous privilege to rotate at six orthopedic surgery programs as a visiting student. Throughout these experiences, I saw firsthand the vast diversity in style, opportunities, and training paradigms at different programs. When it came time to submit my rank list, I felt confident in my decision because I felt I had the necessary background to make an informed decision. r/Orthopinion is my effort in democratizing this information for students across the country, so they can make the best decision they can, at this critical junction in their career.
Methods
With a collective community effort, this valuable information can become easily accessible to all. However, it’s essential to collect and analyze it thoughtfully to ensure accuracy and fairness. To achieve this goal, we have developed a set of resources and protocols designed to translate the experiences of medical students into clear, standardized grading systems. By integrating both qualitative and quantitative data, we aim to provide a comprehensive and balanced evaluation framework. These efforts reflect our commitment to fostering transparency and actionable insights in medical education.
